Who doesn’t love tomatoes? Certainly, all of us do. Tomato is a fruit that is popular and liked by all for a wide plethora of reasons and the benefits it offers are many. It is used in almost all types of curries and adds flavours to them. It is also used for making salads. It is recommended to eat a tomato daily. Eating it regularly prevents many diseases. How to easily grow tomatoes at home?

Growing this tasty and healthy fruit isn’t that easy. It requires lots of effort. There are different methods of growing tomatoes. Let us know the whole procedure in some detail: 

1. It isn’t that difficult to prepare your own organic soil. You can prepare this mixture by using sand, garden soil, and organic compost. The color of the soil should be darkish brown. 

2. Use a shallow container and fill it with the potting mix. The drainage holes must be properly covered using a screen. You can even use small stones or gravel for covering. 

3. Get a few tomatoes and cut them into slices. Spread them into the container. Do not use rotten tomatoes. It is necessary to ensure that the slices don’t get buried deep down. Keep the soil moist but do not over-water.

4. One must not put them under the scorching rays of the sun. Keep it in a cool and shady place. After 15 days, the seeds would start germinating. Now you can keep them under the sun. They should receive sunlight for at least 8hours.

5. Now comes the most difficult part of growing tomatoes at home. You must be extremely careful while transplanting the tomato seedlings. While transplanting, make sure that the soil is moist.

Things to remember while growing tomatoes: 

  • Regular sunlight is necessary for the growth of tomato plants. 
  • Overwatering can rot the roots. Therefore, be very careful while watering them. 
  • Maintain the moisture of the soil. Make sure that the soil doesn’t get dried up and is moist enough. This will prevent diseases.
  • Fertilize the soil periodically.
  • Place the pot in a clean and tidy place.

Often people think that there are only two ways of planting tomatoes. The first way is through seeds and the second way is buying a plant. However, that isn’t the case at all. Proper care is necessary since improper maintenance might make the tomatoes juiceless.
